Biography

Sue Huckson has been an active member of G-I-N since 2007. She has worked on the G-I-N membership committee, the Education Task Force and is the coordinator of the GIN Emergency Care Community. Sue has also been a co facilitator for the G-I-N Implementation Masterclass that is offered as part of the pre conference program. Sue initially trained as an intensive care nurse and she has been involved with the implementation of guidelines and knowledge translation since 2001 when she joined the National Institute of Clinical Studies in Australia. Until early 2012 Sue was the Director for Effective Practice with the National Health and Medical Research Council where she developed strategic and innovative approaches to support the uptake of evidence in complex health environments. Her major work has been the application of networks and ‘Community of Practice’ (CoP) model to support guideline implementation across the emergency care setting nationally. Sue also led the National Organ Donation Collaborative to improve rates of organ donation. More recently Sue has also managed the development of evidence-based guidelines in highly complex and ethically charged health related issues such as the Donation after Cardiac Death and the Management of Obesity in Adults, Children and Adolescents. Sue recently has taken a position with the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) to oversee their clinical registries. ANZICS provides an internationally peer review and quality assurance program based on data from over 1.3 million episodes of care, providing important audit information to measure quality out comes.

Biography

Allison studied an Arts/Science degree at The University of Melbourne and graduated with a PhD in Immunology. Following a postdoctoral research position in viral immunology at The Harvard Medical School, Allison joined ANZICS CORE. Allison has an interest in improving the quality of data held by ANZICS CORE and increasing the utilisation of this data for quality improvement and research purposes.
