Professor Steve Allsop has been involved in policy, prevention and treatment research and practice for over 30 years. Director of the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) at Curtin University he is also Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He has worked with the WA Drug and Alcohol Office, first as A/Executive Director and subsequently as Deputy Chair of the Board. Other current roles include: • Deputy Chair, Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drugs, the principal drug advisory group to the Australian government; • Member, NHRMC working party on Australian Guidelines for low risk drinking; and, • Deputy Regional Editor for the international journal Addiction. In 2015 he received the Senior Scientist Award for the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs.
