Biography
Stephen is an Intensive Care Physician at The Alfred Hospital and Director of Intensive Care at Knox Private Hospital in Victoria. He is also Medical Advisor to Ambulance Victoria. His research interest include the use of therapeutic hypothermia for the treatment of neurological injury after resuscitation from out-of hospital cardiac arrest. He has published the results of a number of clinical trials in this area, more recently examining the role of large volume, ice cold intravenous crystalloid fluid for the induction of hypothermia by paramedics after resuscitation from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. He is also co-investigator of a current clinical trial of early hypothermia after severe traumatic brain injury.
